Otep – TBA 2016

Kalifornien’s Nu-Metal-/Alternative-Metal-Band OTEP haben jetzt beim heimischen Label Napalm Records einen Plattenvertrag unterschrieben. Die Band wird mit Produzent Howard Benson ein neues Studio Album aufnehmen das 2016 in den Handel kommt.

OTEP sagte zum Deal mit Napalm Records: „Signing with Napalm Records is one of the most exciting alliances I’ve ever made. I haven’t felt this excited to write a new album since SEVAS TRA. There’s a lot of work to do, a lot of music to write, a lot of things to say, a lot of injustices to confront and a lot of madness to summon and capture. To be able to forge this sacred alchemy with the dark brilliance of producer Howard Benson is a dream come true.“

Ursprünglich von Jack und Sharon Osbourne in Los Angeles entdeckt, spielte OTEP als erste female fronted Band am Ozzfest. Ohne Demo und nach lediglich fünf Liveshows wurde sie sofort von Capitol Records unter Vertrag genommen und veröffentlichte bis dato sechs Studioalben, eine EP und ein Livealbum.

Die GLAAD nominierte OTEP einst – neben Lady Gaga und Adam Lambert – für ihren Outstanding Artist Award; in der Kategorie BEST VIDEO for Music With A Message gewann sie den angesehenen Preis von MTV! Als Sängerin, Komponistin und Aktivistin machte sie sich u.a. für die ROCK THE VOTE Kampagne 2008 stark. Zweimal war sie HBOs DEF POETRY zu sehen, schrieb drei Gedichtbände und ein bis dato unveröffentlichtes Gedichtalbum, sowie die Kurzgeschichtensammlung MOVIES IN MY HEAD, woraus auch eine Story als Hörbuch erschien. Mit ihrer einzigartigen stimmlichen Bandbreite arbeitet sie zudem als Synchronsprecherin, z.B. im ausgezeichneten Videospiel THE LAST OF US oder in Megablockbustern wie THE HOBBIT: The Battle Of The Five Armies.

Ihre Live-Performances mit zahlreichen herausragenden Musikern werden treffend als “complete mutiny of the senses” beschrieben. Sie selbst sagt über das aktuelle Line-Up: “These are the most talented group of musicians I’ve ever worked with. We are a family. These are my brothers in arms. My guitarist Aristotle and I have a spiritual connection on an alchemical level that’s preternaturally conducive to creativity. Along with my amazing drummer Justin Kier and bassist Corey Wolford, we are a force of nature and resistance fighters. Music is our weapon.
