Scheduled for this fall, the upcoming album follows the success of MUDVAYNE’s first two albums — „L.D. 50“ (2000) and „The End of All Things to Come“ (2002) — both of which were certified gold. Singer Chad Gray, guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan Martinie and drummer Matt McDonough recently rented a ranch in northern California and converted its multi-stall garage into a makeshift studio where they are working on new music.
Despite the relaxing backdrop, the band is pushing itself hard and has already written half of the music for the album. „Establishing clear goals for each song has been the key to MUDVAYNE’s quick results,“ McDonough says. „It’s a strange contradiction, but it can be very liberating to set limitations on creativity as long as you don’t let those limitations define you,“ he explains. „It frees up a lot of creative energy when you stop pulling an idea in fifty different directions and start pushing it in one.“
It only took Gray a few days to finish lyrics for the first song — a track that encapsulates the undisclosed meaning behind the album. „I spent my time off thinking about the themes we wanted to explore on this album,“ he says. „When I got to California, that first song just came pouring out of me. It really is an overview of what the album is about.“
While the band is characteristically mysterious about the ideas behind the new album, McDonough says the music will reflect a refinement of MUDVAYNE’s complexly structured hard rock balanced against more melody than any previous album. Martinie adds „Our goal for the third album is to make music that pleases us because if it makes us happy then the rest will take care of itself.“

Hoffe aber trotztdem das sie ihren Stil so wie er auf dem 2. Album war wieterführen….das erste Album fand ich nicht sooo gut, aber das 2. war schon verdammt gut….

Ich kenne mich mit der Band nicht so wirklich aus. „Dig“ vom ersten Album war einfach nur schrecklich. Jedesmal, wenn ich den Song gehört habe, brauchte ich ´ne Aspirintablette. „Not falling“ war schon besser, aber nichts überragendes.

hm, also „dig“ ist auf der L.D.50 schon irgendwie einzigartig, fast alle anderen songs sind länger und progressiver und ziemlich geil…teste es einfach mal an…und „not falling“ ist zwar saugeil, aber auch der eingängigste song von der aktuellen scheibe…zieh dir mal ganz rein….

As previously reported, MUDVAYNE have selected Toby Wright (KORN, ALICE IN CHAINS, SEVENDUST, SOULFLY) to produce their quartet’s third, as-yet-untitled release. Was weiß ich, was in den ihren verrückten Köpfen vorgeht?
Bin aber zuversichtlich das, dass neue Albun auch wider ein Brett wird!Mudvayne sind eine absolute Ausnahmegruppe! Die L.D. 50 ist wirklich ein kleines Meisterwerk, was mich stellenweise an Tool erinnert. Komische Truppe: Durfte sie mal live erleben(damals mit Bemalung) und fand das sie sich sowas gar nicht nötig hatten, schließlich war/ist ihre Musik viel zu gut für solchen Schnick Schnack!

Übrigens, das ist so eine andere Sache, die ich immer machen wollte, außer Boxer werden: In BEstattungsunternehmen rumlungern. Ich wollte einer von diesen Typen sein, die die Tür aufmachen und sagen >>Herzliches Beileid<<(Charles Bukowski)Ich hab sie mir im Grünspan in Hamburg angeguckt (ohne Schminke) und das hat echt gut gerumpelt. Die Verwandschaft zu Tool ist mir auch schon aufgefalllen.. und das liegt nicht nur am gleichen Produzenten. Die Struktur der Songs ähnelt sich teilweise doch recht deutlich. Man muss nur einen Mudvayne Songs nehmen und ihn auf die doppelte Länge ausrollen (hierfür kann ein handelsübliches Nudelholz benutzt werden). Jetzt sollte man alle Growls aus der Masse entfernen und durch den Meuchelmördergesang von MJK ersetzen.. fertig ist ein Tool Song. 😉 Andersrum gehts natürlich auch…

MUDVAYNE Name New Album – Oct. 27, 2004
MUDVAYNE have set „Lost and Found“ as the title of their new album, tentatively due in early 2005. The follow-up to 2002’s gold-certified „The End of All Things to Come“ was recorded at The Plant studio in Sausalito, California with producer Dave Fortman (former UGLY KID JOE guitarist), who has previously worked with SUPERJOINT RITUAL and EVANESCENCE, among others. A video for the album’s first single, „Fucking Determined“, was recently shot at The Avalon (formerly the Limelight) in New York City.
MUDVAYNE Guitarist Comments On New Album – Oct. 28, 2004
RollingStone.com is reporting that MUDVAYNE’s third album, tentatively titled „Lost and Found“, represents a return to the band’s roots.
„People are gonna be surprised by the rawness,“ said guitarist Greg Tribbett. „Instead of being all slick, we’re definitely going for a raw sound on this record. The last one was pretty smooth and the first record, ‚L.D. 50‘, was raw, so we’re kind of mixing it up a little bit.“
„Lost and Found“ was recorded at The Plant studio in Sausalito, California with producer Dave Fortman (former UGLY KID JOE guitarist), who has previously worked with EVANESCENCE and SUPERJOINT RITUAL. Among the twelve tracks are „Just“, „Happy“, „Pushing Through“ and the single „Fucking Determined“, for which the band shot a video in New York two weeks ago. „That’s one song I’m looking forward to playing live cause I’m sure we’ll get a lot of crowd participation,“ Tribbett said.
