English… „merely“ two years ago, that I had my last english lesson… or one and a half. But my private teacher (on vocational education) was the best teacher I had. He played drums in a band, listening to Thrash/Death and Heavy Metal, he looks like Jason Newsted only a bit smaller and he is original from Louisiana. Only my teacher in music from the seventh up to the tenth class was cool too, the others I know were fools.

In my school there are „Teaching Assistans“. They are in most cases gals from the US who studied German. Then they go to schools in Austria and tell the students how to speak 😀

We were urged to speak english during those private lessons, because the teacher only could speak some phrases in german like: „Hallo, mein Name ist Marc.“ that was really funny, he gave us some worksheets with things on a level of the eight class and we did it in a half hour and the remaining hour we had, we spoke about the weather or some funny story happened. The best of the class who can speak english is a half-indian (from Asia not America).

English is very present here. I’m reading books in english (they’re more superior than this little thread) and lyrics (very funny). Sometimes I find words I didn’t heard yet but self explanatory. It would be heavier when you don’t understand whole sentences but this is very rare.

    That sounds funny. 🙂
The teaching assistants studied German but they never spoke German at university. So it sounds very funny when they „try“ to speak German.

But I have to say English is much easier than Latin. 😀

I never learned Latin at school. I only know some phrases like „Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?“ Who is watching over the guards or something like that. Or a phrase from the beginning of the 20th century: „Si vic pacem parrabellum.“

    😯

I didn’t recognize this topic the last three days. Be warned, I like criticising others‘ mistakes, especially concerning the English language.
    Nice topic though. 🙂

I can imagine that its very interesting. To me foreign languages are very interesting, but I only got the choice to learn English (okay its more a must than a choice) and French. Maybe I would have learned Spanish to, if I went to the secondary level (up to 13th class). But I decided to make a vocational education an in 7 days I’m finished. Friday I know where will I work.

I have the „großes Latinum“ because I did a final test at the end of class 11. Never had French – maybe a mistake, but I would not have managed both languages at school and actually I don’t really like French (it sounds weird ^^)

3 1/2 years as long as my education. At the beginning I thought: „The examination is so far.“ For me its like that I said this yesterday. I will get a limited job (if I stand the rest of the exam). Seems that its a long time too, but it isn’t. But maybe enough to get a bit money go to the collage after catching up the „secondary-school examination“.

Seems that no-one except me likes French (everywhere not only in this forum). But I don’t give a damn.

IgovThen you should go to bed earlier.

You can be happy that you don’t have to learn other languages. I have to learn Italian and Latin.

At the moment I’m in the second class of a commercial college and when I’m in the fourth class I have to learn Czech too. That sucks 😀

    „commercial college“?

I have also to learn other languages. Italiano non è bello.

Tomorrow I have English, but specialized for occupational therapy. This means, I have to deal with a lot of new vocabulary, e.g. zygomatic bone etc.

    Occupational therapy = Ergotherapie
    zygomatic bone = Jochbein
