Yes, it is only a couple getting married but after all it’s not your monarchy you’re judging here. The Brits love their Royals and we should appreciate it even if we might not go along with it.

Hmm, well, I kinda can understand why it’s important to English people and respect it, but why for God’s sake should Germans, Scandinavians, Koreans, Nigerians and the rest of the world give a fuck about it or have an urge to watch it all day long on telly?!
I mean, the fact that there’s a royal wedding going on somewhere is kinda nice, but that’s it. I don’s see the sense of the whole circus…--
Well, you must keep in mind all royal houses are related in one way or another. If one couple gets married it affects them all. That’s why.

Yeah, but that doesn’t affect „little people“ that much, doesn’t it? …and they still watch it. (or are forced to due to TV, internet etc.)
What I’m trying to say here is that I don’t get the point of all that publicity, not the importance of the very act.

I fully understand where you’re coming from, love, but let me ask a counter question. What’s the point in shoving broadcasts of the pope’s election, the pope’s death, the various wars, etc down the telly-wtaching public’s throats?

Pope is the leader of ALL Christians, all wars have a major role in wolrd politics and so on…
Dunno, maybe it’s just me, but this wedding doesn’t seem to fit in this category.--
It does. The royal wedding represents the interest in royals and monarchy – independent from houses yet as a whole. The pope’s announcement/funeral/etc represents the interest in Catholicism and belief. The broadcasting of political events represents the interest in political matters all over the world. What I am saying is, all broadcasts not matter how aggravating, nerdy or unnecessary cover a percentage of interested followers. Yet they also bring up a percentage of people who do not want to see it (non-Royalists, non-Catholics, non-Politicals) . If the percentage of followers is bigger than the amount of disapprovers the economic decision is made to broadcast it all over the globe. At the end of the day we all have the choice of not watching it, haven’t we now. Plus, it’s actual quite nice to see something cheerful on the telly these days. I’d watch a Royal Wedding any day instead of dying children, wars, tsunamis and the like.

Minx, I understand what you’re saying. But I fail to understand the phenomenon, that people desperatelly want to find out what does her dress look like, how many flowers are hanging of the balkonies and stuff like that. But after all, I guess it could be exactly that what you mentioned – there’s finally something NICE going on out there.
And btw, don’t get me wrong, I’m not upset, annoyed or something like that, as the matter of fact it doesn’t bother me at all. That was just me doing some mental jogging.

I completely agree. I couldn’t give a rat’s arse about the amount of flowers, balloons, the designer of dresses, and the list goes on. Yet, I enjoyed the whole thing because I do not really remember the last big wedding they had. I know I was only two years old at that time, however I vaguely remember a very very very long veil and my mom telling my older sister off for not letting her watch in peace. Bizarre 😆

Hehe, yeah, those big public events stay somehow in one’s memory mostly for a very long time. 🙂
Oh well, I guess we could drop that subject, since it’s over by now (at least i believe so :P).Btw, I love how English people mostly say arse instead of ass. Plus that awesome accent. ^^
