Warum unterscheidet man bei Musiksammler 12′ und LP? Ist das nicht eigendlich das Gleiche? Kann mir das jemand mal näher erläutern?
Eine LP ist halt eine Langspielplatte, also ein Album. Gibt aber auch Singles im 12″-Format:

Maxi-Single (Twelve-Inch): Durchmesser: 12″ (30,48 cm); Mittelloch: 7 mm; Abspieldrehzahl: meist 45 min−1, weniger auch mit 33⅓ min−1, sehr selten Kombinationen beider Geschwindigkeiten auf einer Schallplatte (A- und B-Seite, z.B. ″Yello″); Spieldauer bis etwa 16 min/Seite. Schellackplatten mit 78 min−1 dieses Durchmessers hatten etwa 5 Minuten Spieldauer pro Seite.
