Not a lot of strange situations really. Usually people do not even realise that I am German. They hear an accent but the most common remark I get is „Where’s that dialect from? Wales?“ – I must sound Welsh for whatever reason. When I was in London, I was asked whether I was Irish. Oh well. The English I am surrounded by are quite appreciative, and actually enjoy the fact that I am a foreigner, who’s willing to adapt and learn 🙂
