TempuraNot in the slightest, hun. :haha:
‚I spent over 3 years of my life(time) over there…“ would make more sense, right. „I have spent“ means the same, like using german (past) verbs = „Ich verbrachte“/“Ich habe verbracht“.
Formal language is the proper way to speak, I totally agree.
My apologies for using casual (sometimes a bit slangy) „daily“ speech, but for a couple of years I’ve been communicating with an inmate on death row, in the southeastern region of the U.S. (Alabama), so at some point I wasn’t that sure, if we’re talking english at all. 😆

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean. We had to remove ANY way of casual language for my apprenticeship, was quite hard sometimes. Well, since I graduated, I am permanently bragging about the English of other people, because I was taught to do so. 😆 The funny thing is, sometimes my English is pretty bad, because we were focussing on business English, stuff like „Hello, ABC Company, The Vortex speaking, how can I help you? … Oooooh we are very sorry to hear that and will send substitutes to you in the next few days.“, with all of those incoterms such as FOB, FAS etc. etc. and the vocabulary… thank god that this is over.
