Das ist die einzige Band, die ich in die Richtung wahrgenommen habe, und teilweise (?) sogar ganz gut finde. Vitalogy ist jedenfalls toll…

Das ist eines der beiden Alben, die ich aus der Richtung wirklich gut finde. Ich bitte hiermit um ein Review von Creeds My Own Prison.

Spielzeit: 10:02Aaaargh! Das ist verdammt noch mal räudig, asozial und voll vors Fressbrett. Anders kann man die Band nicht beschreiben!
Kaum Songs geschrieben, kaum Lebenszeichen, fast keine Auftritte und dennoch eine Underground- Legende wie sie im Buche steht (haaaa, was ein Wortwitz).
Und womit? mit Recht. Die Band gehört wohl zum dreckigsten was ich je hören durfte. Die Produktion knallt einfach nur trocken, roh und was weiß ich nicht noch alles aus den Boxen. Unglaublich böse Vocals mit viel Reverb drauf. Dazu ein recht simples aber unglaublich effektives Riffing mit einigen tollen Soli. „Slumber“ geht einfach nur nach Vorne und macht einfach keine Gefangenen. „Zombieficiation“ ist ein Midtempostampfer der im Mittelteil mit einem schönen Solo aufwartet, bei dem sich ordentlich mit dem Vibrato ausgelassen wird. Einfach nur göttlich. Gegen Ende wird das alles noch mal langsamer und es stampft nur so vor sich hin.Als letzter Song kommt mit „The Awakening Of…“ dann mein Highlight des Demos. Walzend und schwer drückt der Song den Brustkorb zusammen und lässt keine Luft zum Atmen. Der Doom- Teil lockert das ganze ein wenig, klingt durch das Solo aber einfach nur abartig böse. Die Stimmung steig durch einen kleinen Groove- Part bevor es dann zum letzten Rest geht. TIIIIIME TOOOO DIIIIIIIIIIIE sind die letzten abgefuckten Schreie die man hört und dann ist das Ganze nach nur 3 Songs vorbei.

Clawfinger – Deaf, Dumb, Blind

Crossover, unter dem man vor allem den Mix aus Rap, Hardcore und Metal verstand, war neben dem Grunge die kommerziell erfolgreichste Spielart der harten Rockmusik in den 90er Jahren. Eine der Vorreiter-Bands dieses neuen Stils waren Clawfinger aus Schweden. Skandinivien war in den 90er Jahren vor allem für BM-Bands bekannt, mit Clawfinger sollte der hohe Norden aber auch eine der erfolgreichsten Crossover-Bands hervorbringen. Clawfinger ist im wesentlichen die Idee von Rapper/Sänger Zak Tell und Jocke Skog, der den Großteil der Musik für die Band schreibt. Der Sound von Clawfinger ist im Booklet ihres Debuts „Deaf, Dumb, Blind“ mit folgenden Worten treffend beschrieben: „This Record is loaded with Samples, Loops and no guitar amps“. Diese Beschreibung ist nicht nur eine augenzwinkernde Abrechnung mit dem damals im Rock- und Metalsektor noch weit verbreitete Sitte ausdrücklich den Nichtgebrauch irgendwelcher „Spielereien“ als Markenzeichen auszugeben, sondern tatsächlich Programm. Clawfinger mixen auf „Deaf, Dumb, Blind“ kurze, stakkatohafte Hardcore- und Metalriffs mit eiprägsamen Hooks, Rap-Samples und aggressivem Sprechgesang. Den einzigartigen sterilen und brachialen Gitarrensound erzeugt die Band zum Beispiel dadurch, dass die Instrumente direkt über das Mischpult aufgenommen werden, statt wie sonst üblich Amps oder Tonabnehmer zu benutzen. Dieser Sound und das simple aber äußerst prägnante Songwriting, werden schnell zu Markenzeichen Clawfingers: „The Truth“, „Rosegroove“, „Warfair“ und “ Don’t Get Me Wrong“ sind extrem einprägsame und vor allem tanzbare Songs. Der absolute Überhit der Band ist aber bis heute das seinerzeit oft falsch interpretierte Anti-Rassismus-Statement „Nigger“, dass seinerzeit aus keiner Rock-Disse wegzudenken war. Clawfinger erspielten sich zudem den Ruf einer exzellenten Live-Band und stiegen so schnell in die Top-Liga der europäischen Crossover-Szene auf. 1997 konnte die Band mit „Use Your Brain“ noch einmal gewaltig nachlegen, ehe sie aufgrund des Endes des Crossover-Booms kleinere Brötchen backen musste und dies bis heute tut. Tatsächlich sind Clawfinger eine der ganz wenigen Bands, die das große Massensterben im Crossover Ende der 90er Jahre überlebt haben und bis heute an ihrem Sound festhalten. Zu diesem Überleben trägt auch die Tatsache bei, dass Clawfinger, allen voran Zak Tell und Jocke Skog bis heute extrem gefragte Produzenten und Remixer sind, zu deren Kunden unter anderem Rammstein und die Krupps zählten.
