Grindcore supergroup LOCK UP will enter the studio in the next month to record new material to be included on a split seven-inch single with U.S. grind merchants BRUTAL TRUTH. The almost mythical extreme metal behemoth — AT THE GATES frontman Tomas Lindberg, Anton Reisenegger of PENTAGRAM and CRIMINAL on guitar, NAPALM DEATH bassist Shane Embury and ex-DIMMU BORGIR and TESTAMENT drummer Nick Barker — is also busy writing material for an as-yet-untitled new full-length album, due for release later this year.

Commented Barker:“After very successful performance at the Damnation festival in Leeds last October, and after an eight-year haitus with almost a decade past since we last played in the U.K., LOCK UP have decided to write a new album and play selective dates (mostly festival appearances) throughout this year and 2011 in support of the new record.

„Although at this point it’s still unclear which record label will pick up the band’s third studio release, there is plenty of interest from a number of independent labels.

„I won’t bore anyone with the usual spin of ‚It’s the best, heaviest or fastest material we’ve ever written,‘ but what I will say is the new material is totally relentless and very punishing, more so than our previous efforts… If brutal is your thing, then you will love it.“

LOCK UP has scheduled the following dates:

Apr. 23 – Init Club – Rome, Italy
Apr. 24 – Rock Planet – Pinarella di Cervia, Italy
May 01 – Neurotic Deathfest – Tilburg, The Netherlands

LOCK UP headlined the Terrorizer Stage at the U.K.’s Damnation Festival on October 24, 2009 at Leeds University Union.

Reisenegger replaced the late Pintado, who sadly passed away in August 2006.

Es ist eine Sache, Viking Metal zu hören. Eine andere Sache, sich nen riesen Thorshammer umzuhängen, die Edda zu kaufen, sein Hörnchen Walmart-Met zu erheben, Skål zu sagen und Odin zu huldigen last.fm

Joa in letzter Zeit auch vermehrt reingehört. Hauptsächlich Assück, Nasum und Jakopsae. Auch Antischism, aber das ist dann wohl doch eher Crust(-Punk). Trotzdem sehr geil. an Nasum kommt aber nix ran.

Collision, sehr punkiges gegrinde, find ich auf der Split mit DrDoom fast am besten…..
Audio Kollaps mit deutschen Texten, bei dem Genretypischen Gerotze versteht man zwar kaum ein Wort, knallt aber sehr ordentlich. „Ultima Ratio“ und „Music For An Extereme Sick World“ mag ich sehr, geiler drive und coole D-Beats. Von „Panzer“ bin ich enttäuscht, das ganze Album nur monotones gebretter, einfach langweilig. Ein paar gute Songs sind zwar schon drauf, aber die Scheibe ist nicht annähernd so gut wie die Vorgänger.
Neuron ebenfals aus D-Land fährt ne ähnliche Schiene wie Audio Kollaps, ist aber etwas Krustiger. Hör „Gleichschritt“ recht gerne, die Platte rockt einfach…..
Wojzech aus Rostock machen auch Grind mit deutschen Texten, aber…. ihr wisst ja. Finde „Sedimente“ ne echt geile Platte, Songs wie „Superparadigma“ oder „Dogmafalle“ gehen gut ab….

Weil ich (abgesehen von Napalm Death und Nasum) noch nicht lange bei Grindcore dabei bin, jetzt aber immer mehr uns mehr Gefallen daran finde:
Ist Grindcore gleich Brutal Death Metal und falls nein wo verlaufen die Grenzen?
