Mit No Help for the mighty ones haben Subrosa definitiv eins der besten Alben des Jahres abgeliefert. Der Fünfer aus Utah überzeugt mit seinem Doom/Sludge Metal auf ganzer Linie und hebt sich dank ausgezeichnetem Frauengesang und Violinen auch noch sehr gut von anderen Genrevertretern ab. But in the darkness he holds his son He’s all that’s left, the only one. Das Album bewegt sich die ganzen knapp 60 Minuten Spielzeit über zwischen Faszination, Angst und Verderben. Und obwohl es wirklich keinen einzigen Song hat, der merklich abfällt, sind zwei Lieder herausragend. Zum einen das erhabene „Stonecarver“, welches in meinen Augen zu den Songs 2011 überhaupt zählt, und zum anderen „House Carpenter“, eine Coverversion eines Songs, der u.a. schon von Bob Dylan aufgenommen wurde.

Swallowed – SwallowedCeremonials ist ein gelungenes Album, kann meiner Meinung nach aber nicht mit denm großartigen Lungs mithalten. Florence Welch hat eine fantastische und faszinierende Stimme, die Atmosphäre und musikalische Untermalung wissen zu gefallen. Teilweise ist der pompöse Kitschfaktor allerdings enorm hoch, was mir den Hörgenuss etwas verleidet und nicht jeder Song begeistert mich gleichermaßen. Favoriten sind Shake It Out, What The Water Gave Me, Seven Devils, Breaking Down und Heartlines.
Zu Death Grips kann ich noch nicht viel sagen, habs erst ein Mal am Stück gehört. Hat mich spontan sehr beeindruckt, aber es ist nicht viel hängen geblieben. Werd mehr dazu schreiben wenn ich nen Zugang zum Album gefunden hab.
