Puh. Ich habe es schon geahnt. Da liste ich ne Platte auf, die ich alle 3 Jahre einmal höre und dann… 😉
Ok, ich gebe mein Bestes.Es ist, wie ich finde, sehr schwer Warrior Soul in eine bestimmte Ecke zu packen. Musikalisch bewegt sich die Band irgendwo zwischen Grunge, Punk und Metal. Ein wichtiger Bestandteil sind die doch sehr sozial- und systhemkritischen Texte. Dabei werden manche Songs/Lyrics passenderweise mal trostlos, mal aggressiv und mal in sarkastischem Ton (The Wasteland) vorgetragen. Geht das überhaupt? Jop! 😉 Textlich wird kein Blatt vor den Mund genommen. Anarchie pur!
Man darf hier keine musikalische „Grosstat“ in Form irgendwelcher Progressive-Bands erwarten (damit meine ich Gitarrengefrickel etc.), obwohl dieses Album durchaus auch seine progressiven Elemente vorzuweisen hat.
Doch grossartige Experimente haben Warrior Soul überhaupt nicht nötig. Es gibt eine Message und die wird an den Mann gebracht. Dazu braucht es gerade mal ne Gitarre, Bass, Schlagzeug und einen Cory Klarke am Mikro, der die Stimmung der Songs perfekt in die jeweiligen Stücke integriert. Überhaupt praktizieren WS sehr emotionale Musik.Das Album ist definitiv nicht schlecht. Allerdings ist es nichts, was ich mir täglich reinziehen kann.
Was mir jedoch an dieser Scheibe besonders gefällt, ist die Anarchie, die sie versprüht. Wer diese Platte kennt, weiss, wovon ich spreche^^
Leider habe/kenne ich kein weiteres WS-Album. Daher kann ich keine Vergleiche anstellen.Warrior Soul – The Wasteland

SaroPuh. Ich habe es schon geahnt. Da liste ich ne Platte auf, die ich alle 3 Jahre einmal höre und dann… 😉
:haha: Ist bei mir nicht groß anders. Vor ein paar Monaten habe ich den ersten drei Alben zwar wieder ein Ohr geliehen, aber zwischen diesem letzten Rauskramen und der Phase, in der ich die Band noch wirklich oft/regelmäßig gehört habe, liegen locker mal 3-4 Jahre.
SaroEs ist, wie ich finde, sehr schwer Warrior Soul in eine bestimmte Ecke zu packen.
Jo. Haben sich souverän an allen Zielgruppen vorbeimanövriert, und am Ende konnten weder Fans von Queensryche noch von Rage Against The Machine sie leiden. Fronter Kory Clarke war aber, soweit ich das noch richtig behalten habe, ’ne ziemliche Zicke, was die eigene Vermarktung und die seiner Band angeht, und das Label hat sie offenbar auch eher stiefmütterlich behandelt.

Bei meinem letzten Hördurchgang waren genau die mir auf eine eher unangenehme Weise pathetisch, die Art, wie die Gesellschaftskritik formuliert wurde, und diese Underdog-Attitüde waren nicht mein Fall. Im Hinblick darauf finde ich den Nachfolger „Salutations From The Ghetto Nation“ erheblich besser, weil da das Ganze viel öfter durch einen Hauch von Zynismus und dieses „Scheiß drauf“-Flair gebrochen wird, was die Sache wieder cool macht. Dazu hat das Album von den ersten drei die meiner Meinung nach größte Hitdichte. Solltest du in drei Jahren also wieder Lust auf die Band haben, wäre das vielleicht eine lohnende Investition.

Musik Messi (© creeping deathaaa)Bezüglich der Texte wollte ich gar keine Position beziehen. Ich habe versucht das alles objektiv zu beschreiben. Zu den Lyrics und der Aussage am Ende -„Was mir jedoch an dieser Scheibe besonders gefällt, ist die Anarchie, die sie versprüht“-, möchte ich folgende Ergänzung geben:
Was ich damit meine, ist die Anarchie, die die Platte als Ganzes, als Gesamtpaket versprüht. Ich finde, dass dieses Album so ’nen gewissen Anti-Flair verbreitet. Da können Green Day noch so oft vom „American Idiot“ singen; gegen den Sound und der damit verbundenen Atmosphäre von Warrior Soul kommen die nicht mal im Ansatz ran. Obwohl WS auch kommerziell recht erfolgreich waren (wenn ich mich richtig erinnere), zweifle ich deren Authentizität zu keinem Zeitpunkt an. Dafür klingt das Album einfach zu, joa, anti 😉
Die von dir geposteten Songs, fallen wirklich um einiges eingängiger aus. Bei Gelegenheit, werde ich mir das Album zulegen.
