@ Times of Grace:

Ich darf von mir ehrlich behaupten, lange Zeit hart dumm gewesen zu sein, und Neurosis gemieden zu haben.
Dementsprechend verliebe ich mich seit April auch immer weiter in die Band. Times of Grace war das Album, mit dem es eigentlich auf Empfehlung von palez Klick gemacht hat. Herrlich böser Mix aus Sludge und Protopostmetal, unfassbar fetter Sound (vor allem, wenn man es gleichzeitig mit der Grace von Tribes of Neurot hört! So viele kleine Spielereien zu entdecken, die Liebe zum Detail ist atemberaubend). Das Ding geht rum wie nichts, und vor allem Under the Surface und Belief hauen mich sowohl musikalisch als auch atmosphärisch und lyrisch vollkommen vom Stuhl. Meine liebste Neurosis fosho

Angels of Light:
Auch hier ist palez wieder Schuld. Angels of Light haben World of Skin mittlerweile überholt, wenn es um mein liebstes Swans/Gira-Nebenprojekt geht.
How I loved you ist im Grunde Singer-/ Songwriter gone Gira – faszinierend anders und bewegend. Von fast rituellen, sehr langen Stücken (New City in the Future, New York Girls etc) oder countryesquen Liedern (Untitled Love Song) findet sich eine gewaltige Bandbreite an Stimmungen, ohne dabei den Faden zu verlieren.
Kann ich mir immer wieder anhören, ohne dass es langweilig wird.

Chelsea Wolfe:
Ich liebe Chelsea Wolfe. Die Frau ist umwerfend. Ich mag vor allem die Unknown Rooms. Denn so gut ich sie auf Album finde, und so spannend die Albenmischung aus Drone, Ambient und Folk ist, so viel lieber mag ich sie noch live.
Unknown Rooms hat einen wundervollen Minimalismus, nur Gitarren, Chelseas atemberaubende Stimme und gut eingestreute Streicher.
Flatlands ist ein absolutes Highlight! Schade nur, dass Halfsleeper hier drauf nicht zu finden ist – wäre bestimmt gut gekommen.
Sing Songs together ist ebenfalls klasse. Fight Like Gods ist einer der Hits des Jahres für mich, stimmig, bedrückend, und typisch Chelsea Wolfe.
Außerdem macht der King hier mit. Und wo King Dude drauf steht ist King Dude drin. Fiese Baritonstimme über Gothic Country mit massig Samples, Atmos, Distortion etc.

Sons of Perdition:
Das ist toll, das fügt sich alles so in den Schreibfluß ein. Denn wenn wir bei Gothic Country sind, kommen auch schon Sons of Perdition. Meine Lieblinge aus dem Bereich, düster und fies eingespielter Country. Dieses Zusammenspiel aus Ästhetik, satanisch angehauchten Texten und der Musik macht vieles her, und zeigt für mich die düsteren Seiten des wilden Westens.
The Kingdom is on fire ist ein nettes Album, welches typischen Country in langsamer und tiefer präsentiert. Ist gut, und hat mit Blood in the Valley meinen liebsten SoP-Song – ich liebe diesen richtig, richtig tiefen Gesang. Mein Highlight ist aber eigentlich der Hiddentrack am Ende, welcher ein Gewurschtel und Durcheinander verschiedener noisiger Geräuschkulissen darstellt, welche ein dystopisches Loch erzeugen.
Psalms for the spiritually dead ist das neuere Album, glaub ich. Der Klang ist ausgereifter, das ganze Album wirkt um einiges melancholischer. Der typische Countryklang geht ein wenig zugunsten der Atmosphäre verloren, das Album zeigt dennoch alle typischen Elemente der Musikrichtung.
So hässlich das Cover auch ist ein geniales Album mit einer Atmosphäre, die in dem Bereich ihresgleichen sucht.

Ulver:
Das hat Hati verbrochen. Mit Vigil darf ich mich in seinem Sampler rumärgern, und als sei das nicht schlimm genug, hat er mir direkt die ganze CD mitgeschenkt.
Nein, Spaß beiseite. Shadows of the Sun ist ein absolut großartiges Album. Bei Ulver musste ich immer an norwegischen Blackmetal denken (mit dem sie ja auch angefangen haben), aber überraschenderweise hat mich dann doch ein Dark Ambient/ Electronic-Irgendwas-Album getroffen.
Ich finde das Ding unglaublich entspannend und angenehm, ohne dass es langweilig oder -atmig wird. Der Gesang ist außerdem aus einer ganz andren Welt.

@ Angels Of Light: Jo, super Sache, das Album. Muss ich mir auch endlich mal zulegen.

@ Chelsea Wolfe: Ich mag an Chelsea Wolfe eigentlich die Folk/Akustik-Seite auch am liebsten, wenngleich der andere Kram ebenfalls toll ist, aber Unknown Rooms hat meiner Meinung nach leider auch ein paar Schwächen. Klar, die Highlights, die du angesprochen hast, finde ich auch ziemlich großartig, aber einige Songs wirken leider auch etwas unausgegoren und insgesamt gefällt mir das Debüt wohl doch besser (da ist aber auch Halfsleeper drauf^^). Der Song von der Split mit King Dude finde ich ebenfalls grandios. Der ist wirklich richtig schön düster, schleppend und zäh – wunderbar.

@ Sons Of Perditions: Ich nehme es so wahr, dass „The Kingdom Is On Fire“ mit „Blood In The Valley“ (absoluter Übersong) und „Fall To you Knees“ wohl die beiden besten Songs beinhaltet, während „Psalms…“ in sich wohl etwas geschlossener ist (auf TKIOF sind leider etwas zu viele dieser kurzen, nicht besonders düsteren, etwas schnelleren Tracks drauf). Insgesamt hat TKIOF bei mir wohl trotzdem – eben wegen der beiden Songs – die Nase vorn.

und @ulver: jo, absolut hinreißendes, großartiges Album mit einer äußerst eigentümlichen Stimmung. Hier passt wirklich fast alles.

Sons of Perdition stimm ich dir so auch zu. Blood in the Valley ist einfach ein absolut rundes Ding, da kann man eigentlich nichts bemängeln. Ist bei mir wohl so wie mit Circle takes the Square – ich mag die aus diesem Jahr um Welten lieber als das Debüt, dennoch bleibt für mich Non-Objective Portrait of Karma (vom Debüt) der beste Song der Band.
